Company

Emilsider was established in 1956 as a Trading Company for screws, nuts and bolts. In addition to this activity, the Company, after some time, started the manufacture of turned or cold pressed small metal parts and, in particular, metal attachment pins for castors. In 1963 the Company moved from the Bologna seat to the present one in Granarolo Emilia and during the same period of time the production of metal furniture castors was started.

In the year 1975 the range of products was extended to twin castors, the result of new patented manufacturing techniques and to the use of a special plastic component mix, formulated by Emilsider.
The strategy of the Company has always been to combine the two basic characteristics of a product of quality: resistance to wear and tear and to breakage.

Nowadays, Emilsider produce on a total area of 15.000 sqm., of which about 8.000 roofed buildings, and is a worldwide leader for office chair and furniture twin castors, directly exported into 5 continents, and they are proud to count among their clients the most important companies of this industry.

Protection

The circular hub fairing around the horizontal rotation axis of the wheels, creating an efficacious protection against treads, hairs and similar substances that otherwise would penetrate;

Minimum friction

The rotation around the vertical axis, supported by a steel ball, limiting to a minimum the friction caused by the weight of the chair;

5000 castor styles

The modular structure of the product, that by means of a rich range of standard and special accessories, colours and packaging, enables us, thanks to a few basic, carefully structured models, to obtain about 5.000 castor versions for chairs and furniture, to meet all kinds of requirements;

ADAPTO system

The system for matching the castor with the chair base (patented by us with the trade-mark “ADAPTO”) allowing to aesthetically adapt our castors to all kinds of office chairs;

The very rich range of accessories, that offer the possibility of embellishing, protecting and improving the performance of each castor model;

Short lead times

The particular production of attachment pins, originating from the specific expertise achieved during the first years of our activity, and entirely performed in-house, thanks to which the automatic assembling lines are continuously fed, thus reducing to a minimum the lead-time for the finished products;

Careful processing

The special care dedicated to processing of the components, entirely performed in-house, thus making it possible to assemble the castors automatically;

Automized quality control

The automated quality control during all the stages of production, the constant random checks, performed on the finished product, as well as the continuous laboratory tests, thanks to which our clients receive only totally conforming products;

Logistics

Our internal and external logistic system (through special agreements with the most important forwarders) and our packaging system (by means of bags, boxes and pallets sized to the international standards) allowing perfect handling and preservation of the products;

Continuous innovation

The system for designing and realizing of the moulds and special equipment for processing, assembling and controlling (entirely performed in-house by Emilsider), to guarantee the employed technologies, and to develop new products while constantly innovating the already existing ones;

Attention to the environments

The manufacturing system totally performed in-house and with closed cycle (from plastic granules and drawn steel to the finished castor) without any interruption and without waste or processing scrap, thus reducing to a minimum energy waste while offering maximum protection of the environment and guaranteeing punctual delivery of our products;

After sales guarantee

The guarantee offered for the finished product and the after sales support thanks to which our clients are protected against all kinds of unforeseen events.

Quality

The most important guarantee for the quality of our products is the manufacturing technology we apply.

All the components are produced in our factory and are then assembled on assembling lines, in their turn developed, designed and built by our engineering department.
The automatic assembling equipment performs functional checks during each processing step, thus guaranteeing conformity of the whole production.

Some finished castors are daily drawn from the lot produced during each manufacturing cycle and are then tested on our test equipment, designed and built by our Company according to the directives set forth in the international standards.

Certification

Since the beginning of their activity Emilsider considered the quality of their products as their most important objective and for the achievement of this goal, further to the choice and to the constant quality of the raw materials and of the manufacturing technologies, systematic and continuous control of the production has always been essential. As a matter of fact, we continuously check production according to the EN and BIFMA tests.

The suitability of our test laboratory is certified by the renowned product certification body LGA, based in Nuremberg.

Very rarely the centre of attention in the design process, the development of the castor – a furniture part focusing on functionality – has to take several safety aspects into consideration. Therefore the functional and unpretentious EMIRING castor was equipped with an innovative safety brake. This allows the user to set the braking force of the castor in such a way so as to meet individual safety requirements.
