WHEEL PROTECTION

DEVICE TO PROTECT THE WHEELS
DURING THE TRANSPORT

(FOR Ø 65-mm. CASTORS ONLY)

Sometimes it happened that our clients had problems with transporting the already assembled chairs from the truck to the final client’s premises, because it was necessary to push the chairs over often quite unsuitable ground and upon reaching the final destination the castors turned out to be dirty. To solve this problem, we designed and patented special plastic protections, provided with tear-off lids, to cover the two wheels.
The red wheel protection is for hard tread castors type H; the yellow one is for conductive castors and the blue one is for soft tread castors type W.

“EMIRING” TWIN CASTOR

It is widely known, that to revolutionize the design of a castor, and thus to develop the engineering techniques it involves, is, indeed, a very demanding task.

Emilsider, whose 50th anniversary was celebrated in the year 2013, accepted the challenge, thanks to an exceptionally skilled and motivated team of collaborators.

Owing to the new materials and to the innovative technologies we employed, it has been possible to reconcile the design with good functional features, and “emiring” is in a position to pass the most severe tests prescribed by the EN 12529 and BIFMA X 5.1 standards. “emiring” can be produced in various colors, with a range of standard accessories or to the client’s request.

For this castor and its engineering technique patents have been granted in Europe, United States, Canada, China, India, Japan and Brazil, and the client needs only to ascertain whether each item is marked with the EMI logo, so as to vouch for the original product and its functionality.

“EMIRING” SAFETY BRAKE

The safety brake according to the EN 12529 standard for office chairs slightly brakes the castors when the chair is unloaded, that is before it is used, so as to prevent the chair from rolling away when the user sits down.

As of today, the use of the safety brake is compulsory only for the European market.

For this reason, when developing the “EMIRING” twin castor, EMILSIDER created a safety braking system according to the EN 12529 standard, but providing, moreover, the possibility of decreasing and/or desactivating the braking effect. This is obtained thanks to a patented screwing system in the bottom part of the castor body. The user, availing himself of a standard screwdriver for cross-slotted screws, may turn the screw in clockwise direction and thus decrease and/or desactivate the braking strength and in this condition the castors meet the BIFMA x 5.1 standard. The Emilsider dual version satisfies the requirements of all the markets.

ATTACHMENT PIN WITH PLASTIC BUSHING Code 422

The traditional pin used to secure the castors to the steel or aluminum bases, generally produce a disagreeable metallic noise when the chair is being moved. To solve this inconvenience we designed and patented an attachment pin with a steel circlip and a special plastic bush secured on the pin by means of a particular manufacturing technique.

TO EN 12529 STANDARD – 5-YEAR WARRANTY

CONDITIONS FOR THE VALIDITY OF THE WARRANTY
The above reported warranty term applies only if the following instructions for use are observed:

1° The castors shall be properly mounted on the chair base, according to our instructions as set forth in the following page.

2° Select the most suitable type of tread according to the characteristics of the floor: – Wheels with hard tread for textile fibre carpeted or similar floors – Wheels with soft tread for granite, ceramic, marble, wooden or similar floors. The warranty will not apply, of course, in case of use on uneven or highly abrasive floors like concrete, asphalt or similar types.

3° The guarantee coverage applies if the castors are used during one shift a day. Continuous use of the castors during two or three shifts every day of the year, including also holidays, automatically reduces the warranty term to one year.

4° Conductive castors are covered by a 2-year guarantee term, provided that further to the recommendations set forth under points 1-2-3, the tread is cleansed from time to time. This is necessary because the dirt deposited on the tread produces an insulating coating by which the conductivity is reduced and in some cases even cancelled.

NOTE
The spring destinguishes the braked castors from the free running ones.
